The Ancient Naga Roots

Bhitarwar's identity is anchored in the legendary city of Pawaya (ancient Padmavati), located within a 15km radius. In the 3rd and 4th centuries, it served as the capital of the Naga Dynasty and was described by the poet Bhavbhuti as a sprawling metropolis where the Parbati and Sindhu rivers meet.
